Description
The Supra SA 550 is positioned as the top-tier sports-and-wake unique boat in the SA lineup, combining high performance with luxury and versatile sport capability. In its standard form, the SA 550 offers a 22′ 5″ overall length with a beam near 102″ and seating for up to 16 people. Under the deck, it is powered by a Raptor 550 Indmar engine (a 6.2 L V8) with a 1.7:1 drive, delivering strong wake and tow performance. It includes a substantial ballast capacity (standard subfloor ballast in the range of ~4,100 lbs) designed to generate big, well-shaped wakes and allow serious surfing or wakeboarding performance without requiring numerous add-ons.
Open-air comfort and styling are highlighted with features like a power-folding tower, advanced audio system (Supra’s DSD audio), high-grade vinyl upholstery (often with “Chill-Tech” on driver/observer seats), GatorStep or similar non-skid flooring, and a full complement of lighting including docking/nav/anchor lighting plus underwater or auxiliary accents. Helm amenities tend to include dual touch-screens, passenger touch-screen controls, a driver’s seat that is often power-adjustable (and in many models heated), a Smart Steering wheel, and plenty of storage and convenience features (USB/12V outlets, wash-down system, board racks, etc.).
On the safety/convenience side, standard equipment typically includes features like interior wash-down, transom stereo remote, swim platform with step (or drop-step), high visibility instrumentation, in many cases stern thrusters or power assist steering for better low-speed maneuvering, fire suppression, and a robust trailer package (if including factory towing/trailer options).
In terms of ride control and surf features, standard options include Supra’s AutoWake system (with auto-leveling), a Smart Plate or adjustable trim device, and possibly a surf shaping package (e.g. surf pipe or surf systems) to shape the wave. The SA trim also brings a redesigned transom with rear-facing seating, making the boat more versatile for social use when surfing/wakeboarding gear is stowed.
The SA 550’s build quality is upscale: high quality fittings and finishes, attention to visual design (color packages, gel-coat accents, graphics), and functional touches like extensive in-floor storage, flip-or slide-and-flip rear seats, bow-filler cushions, anchor storage, etc.
